Hazaribag: The Hazaribag police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following a daylight robbery at a public sector bank’s branch in Barhi, where criminals decamped with 4.22 lakh in cash and gold worth Rs 2 crore.SP Aman Kumar formed the SIT led by additional SP Amit Anand on Saturday night. The team includes Barhi SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal, three police inspectors and officers-in-charge of five police stations, including Barhi.The robbery took place on Friday afternoon at the bank’s Hazaribag Road branch, 500 metres from Barhi Chowk. According to the FIR lodged by branch manager Ajay Ram on Saturday, four armed criminals stormed into the bank around 3:09 pm, overpowered staff at gunpoint and executed the heist with precision.The FIR said that the criminals fled with Rs 4.22 lakh in cash and 3.987 kg of 22-carat gold (78 packets) worth Rs 2 crore.Officials said police are examining CCTV footage from the bank premises as well as nearby locations, including the Rasoiya-Dhamna toll plaza, to trace the suspects. Officials said teams are also scanning footage from adjoining districts and working on technical evidence to identify the accused.The branch, opened barely a year ago, had no security guard on duty at the time of the incident.
